About This Market

The Richmond Garlic Fest is an annual event organized by The Sharing Farm Society, a nonprofit organization that cultivates nutritious produce for community members facing food insecurity. The festival, which attracts approximately 6,000 people from the Lower Mainland, celebrates sustainable agriculture and local garlic. Festival-goers can enjoy live birds-of-prey flying demonstrations, a children’s area, a diverse farmer’s market, food trucks offering garlic specials, and live entertainment. Admission to the festival is by donation, with a suggested minimum donation of $5 per person, and all proceeds go towards supporting The Sharing Farm’s work. The festival takes place at the Sharing Farm in Terra Nova Rural Park and offers various activities such as garlic ice cream tasting, workshops on garlic growing and native plants, farm tours, and live music. Attendees are encouraged to take public transit, cycle, or walk to the festival, but there is also limited vehicle parking with free shuttles available from the City Works Yard to the festival site. The festival offers fresh produce, local honey, and artisanal products at the farmer’s market, and there are also garlic-inspired dishes available from local food trucks. Attendees are advised to bring their own reusable water bottles and shopping bags. Dogs are not allowed at the festival due to the park’s importance as a Bird Area. For general inquiries and to stay updated on events and volunteer opportunities, visitors can sign up for The Sharing Farm’s mailing list.
