Initially starting its journey in California with vegetable and dairy farming, the DeMille family relocated to the lush valley of Salmon Arm in 1970. With the planting of a mere 10 rows of sweet corn and the establishment of a quaint roadside stand—accompanied by a notorious yet charming “illegal sign”—DeMille’s Farm Market embarked on what would become a thriving agricultural venture.

The farm has since flourished, now boasting an expanded variety of vegetables and over 20 types of sweet corn grown across 130 acres, which they handpick from late July through September. This corn has garnered fame throughout British Columbia and Western Canada, inspiring a dedicated following for its unrivaled flavor.

But the market’s offerings aren’t limited to just corn. Visitors can find a cornucopia of fresh fruits and produce sourced both locally and globally, ensuring that if it’s in season, it’s ready for purchase at DeMille’s. Their pumpkins are equally noteworthy, with a vast array of sizes and shapes ideal for autumnal activities, such as carving or pie-baking.
